Rooted in Family,
Driven by Purpose.
My wife, Wendy, and I moved to the Lake Travis area from Houston in 2019. We've been married for over 31 years and are proud parents to three independent, college-educated children.
Our passion for helping kids thrive has always been at the heart of our family. As our kids grew up, I was heavily involved in coaching and leading activities, and Wendy spent years mentoring young girls through Be Unique, a confidence-building program she co-founded with our daughter.
Since retiring, I’ve poured my time and energy into giving back—especially within our schools and local community. Supporting the next generation isn’t just something we believe in. It’s something we live out every day.

COMPETENT
to lead & succeed.
After graduating from Texas A&M in 1983 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, I began my career at Exxon and eventually became an entrepreneur. In 1986, I founded Apartment Data Services, revolutionizing the apartment information industry. What started in Houston grew across Texas and eventually expanded throughout the Southeast, from Arizona to Florida. In 2023, we sold the company to a strategic buyer. After a six-month transition, I retired, excited for the next chapter!
With over 40 years of experience as an engineer and business owner, I bring expertise in budgeting and decision-making. My extensive involvement with LTISD has also given me firsthand insight into the district’s operations and challenges. By combining financial expertise with a deep understanding of our schools’ needs, I’m committed to restoring stability, prioritizing resources, and ensuring every dollar directly benefits students, teachers, and the future of our schools.
Over My Career, I Have:
Empowered hundreds of employees
Served thousands of customers
Managed multi-million-dollar budgets
Analyzed complex business data
Made strategic, high-impact decisions
CONNECTED
to the community.
After retiring from a 40 year career, I quickly realized—I’m not wired to be retired. I wanted to connect with the driving forces behind the Lake Travis community, which are our businesses and schools.
As a member of the Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce and the Leadership Lake Travis Program, I have made lasting connections with business leaders and advocated for community success. Additionally, I have been deeply involved in LTISD and the Lake Travis community for years, attending countless school board meetings and actively working to strengthen our schools through leadership and service.
My dedication to fiscal responsibility, student success, and community engagement makes me ready to advocate for students, teachers, and taxpayers alike. I am prepared to serve full-time, bring strong leadership to the board, and put our schools back on solid ground.

Director - Lake Travis Education Foundation (LTEF)
LTEF exists to provide private funding in support of the education of our children, teachers, and schools. We raise money throughout the year with our events and giving campaigns and then distribute the money in the form of teacher grants and student scholarships. This year we presented the district with $450,000, which funded 142 teacher grants and 25+ individual scholarships. Being part of awarding the grants has allowed me to visit every campus in the district and see the joy and gratitude of the teachers and students.

Member - Budget Advisory Committee (BAC)
Lake Travis ISD is facing a significant budget deficit largely due to the lack of additional funding for public education by the Texas Legislature. The BAC’s membership is comprised of staff, students, parents, and community members. As a member of BAC’s team, I have received an overview of school finances, learned how money is spent, been shown the budget realities, and engaged in discussions on funding priorities and reduction strategies. Our team addresses the district’s financial needs and priorities with collaboration and transparency. We are working together to navigate these challenges and find innovative solutions to support the students and staff of Lake Travis ISD.
-
Member - Advisory Committee for Education (ACE)
As a member of the ACE team, a district advisory group of stakeholders, I am proud to be part of a group that is charged with providing feedback and communication to District staff and the Board of Trustees. We establish and review the District Improvement Plan as well as the District’s educational goals, performance objectives, and major District-wide classroom instructional programs. Our work is supported by site-based decision-making, a process for decentralizing and gathering feedback for decisions to improve the educational outcomes at every school campus. This collaborative effort by principals, teachers, campus staff, district staff, parents, and community representatives assesses the educational outcomes of all students, determines goals and strategies, and ensures that strategies are implemented and adjusted to improve student achievement.

Community Member - LT CLASS Project 2024-2025
I believe that before you can be an effective Board Member you should have full awareness and understanding of the systems and processes that make it work. The purpose of LT CLASS Project is to provide key information and understanding about district operations and to build relationships among district leadership and community members. District Operations Include: - Governance/Legal - Safety/Security - Communications - Human Resources - Accountability & Assessment - Library Services - Technology - Special Services - Budget - Demographics - Facilities & Construction - Maintenance & Operations - Food & Nutrition Services - Transportation - Quality Assurance - Counseling & Health Services - Community Programs - Corporate Relations/LTEF - Athletics - Fine Arts - Career & Technical Education

Mentor & Judge - CTE Incubator Program (Entrepreneurship)
The CTE Incubator program is a collaborative learning experience for high school students to create and fully develop their own product or service working with local entrepreneurs and business experts that serve as volunteer coaches and mentors. Think of it like SHARK TANK. I have been involved with the CTE Business Incubator program as Judge and Mentor for the past 2 years. It is the purest form of teaching because you deal with kids in a one-on-one and small group environment where you can actually “listen to them think.” My role as a mentor is to help them with leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills. They have great and not-so-great ideas, and they have learned to tell the difference. I am so impressed by my team of students. They have created a service, learned how to pitch it to investors, and have started a business before they even graduate. They have successfully competed in the DECA and SkillsUSA competitions and are now on their way to the state competition. The reward for my efforts can be summed up with a recent note they sent me: “Having you as our mentor has been educational and inspiring. Everything you have taught us I will carry on throughout our careers. Thank you for not only being a vital part of our project but also teaching us how to be businessmen and showing us the skills it takes to be successful. We are truly thankful for everything you have done for us.”

Attendee - LTISD School Board Meetings
I am proud to say that I have attended every monthly School Board meeting over the past 2 years (I missed 3 but watched the recorded version). While most attendees leave after the public comments are made, I stay till the very end - that’s when the details are discussed, and the money gets spent. I have seen the scope and difficulties of the job, and I am ready to assume the role. Also, I’d like to express my gratitude and praise for the current board members.

Member - Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce
Over the past three years, my involvement with the Chamber has allowed me to get personally connected with the leaders and owners of many of the businesses in the Lake Travis area. It is important to help local businesses thrive because these are the businesses that donate most of the money and items to our schools and foundations (LTEF). I believe a thriving business community allows for a strong school district.

Participant - Leadership Lake Travis
Leadership Lake Travis provides a hands-on, interactive experience where leaders enhance their personal and professional skills, gain a deeper understanding of community dynamics, and build a network of colleagues and associates throughout the Lake Travis area. As a participant, over the past eight months, I have traveled to various sites, meeting the policy makers and trendsetters in our community. I have interacted with elected officials, city executives, business leaders, nonprofit organization leaders, and others who make our community work. Much like the LT CLASS Project that has given me a better understanding of our school district’s operations, the Chamber’s Leadership program has given me a solid foundation and understanding of our local businesses.
